Talk to someone who works in the house

No call centre, no phone tree, no lead-generation service selling your details on to six other facilities. You call this number and someone here answers it.

The house is staffed around the clock, so there is always someone here. Visits and tours are best arranged between 9am and 6pm, but call whenever — including evenings and weekends, which is when most families are able to think about this.

Request a visit

We will call you back the same day, usually within a couple of hours.

A sentence or two is plenty — we will ask the detailed questions on the phone.

Please don't include diagnoses, medications, or medical records in this form. Email isn't a secure way to send health information. We'll gather everything we need safely when we speak.

How it works

Moving in, step by step

Nobody enjoys this process. We try to make it as few steps as it can honestly be, and to tell you where you stand at each one.

  1. 1

    A phone call

Tell us roughly what is going on. In ten minutes we can usually say whether we are a plausible fit and whether we have a room.

  2. 2

    Visit the house

Come and look properly. Meet the caregivers, see the room, eat a meal if you can. Bring whoever else in the family needs to be comfortable with the decision.

  3. 3

    Nursing assessment

Our nurse meets your family member, reviews medications and history, and writes the care plan. This is also where we confirm honestly that we can meet the need.

  4. 4

    Paperwork and rate

The residency agreement, the rate in writing, anything billed separately, and the physician orders and health documents Kansas requires.

  5. 5

    Move-in day

Bring their own quilt, chair and photographs. We keep the first day quiet and deliberately unhurried, and we will call you that evening to tell you how it went.

Documents to gather

  • Photo ID, Medicare and insurance cards
  • Current medication list, with dosages
  • Physician orders and a recent history and physical
  • Negative TB test, as Kansas requires
  • Power of attorney, guardianship or healthcare proxy
  • Advance directives, DNR or POST form if there is one
  • Recent hospital or rehab discharge paperwork

Do not wait until you have all of this to call. We will help you work out what is actually needed and what can follow.

What to bring on the day

  • A week or two of everyday clothes, labelled
  • Toiletries and any preferred brands
  • Their own quilt, pillow and a favourite chair if it fits
  • Photographs, and something for the walls
  • A radio, television, tablet or books
  • Glasses, hearing aids, dentures and chargers
  • Walker, wheelchair or other equipment they use

The room comes furnished, but it should end up looking like theirs. Residents settle much faster when it already feels familiar.

Before you call

Practical questions

Do we need an appointment to visit?

No, though it helps. You are welcome to call ahead and come the same day, and we would honestly rather you visited at a mealtime unannounced than saw a staged version of the house.

What should we bring to the first visit?

Nothing at all. If you happen to have a current medication list or recent discharge paperwork it helps us give you a faster answer, but do not delay a visit to gather documents.

Can our family member come along on the visit?

Usually yes, and it often goes better than families expect — seeing an ordinary house with a kitchen and a garden is very different from imagining "a facility". You know them best, so it is your call.

How long does the whole process take?

From first call to move-in is often a week or two, and can be a few days in an urgent hospital discharge. The pace is usually set by the assessment and physician orders rather than by us.

Is there a waiting list?

Sometimes. With only seven rooms, availability changes week to week. Call and we will tell you exactly where things stand rather than keeping you hopeful.
