Happy Care Home Plus LLC is not a franchise and not part of a chain. It is one house on a quiet street in Bel Aire, Kansas, licensed for seven residents, run by people whose names you will learn on your first visit.

Why we do this

It started with our father

Our passion for opening a residential care home is deeply rooted in our personal experience. When our father became seriously ill, our mother became the family's sole provider, and I left school to care for him until he passed away in 2001 after a five-year battle with illness.

That experience inspired my lifelong commitment to caring for others. Since then, I have worked in several residential care homes, providing compassionate, respectful, and dignified care to individuals who need support.

Today, many families face the challenge of balancing work, personal responsibilities, and the care of their loved ones. We know what that is like from the inside, which is why we built this house the way we did.

What to bring on move-in day

The room is furnished — medical bed, closet, television — but it should end up looking like theirs, not ours. Bring the quilt, the armchair if it fits, photographs, the radio, a favourite lamp. Residents settle much faster when the room already feels familiar.

Why we chose Bel Aire

Our home is in the city of Bel Aire, Kansas — one of the most peaceful, quiet and well-maintained communities in the Wichita metropolitan area.

Many people consider Bel Aire close to ideal for senior citizens: it is safe and secure, with a relatively low crime rate. The city is clean and well kept, with attractive buildings, parks and scenic surroundings. In short, it is a wonderful place to live — and that matters as much for the family visiting as for the resident.

Because Bel Aire sits inside the metro, family can call in on the way home from work rather than setting aside a whole afternoon.

“Home Plus” is a licence category under Kansas statute, not a brand name. It covers an adult care home serving no more than twelve residents in a single-family residence, and it is issued and inspected by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS).

Our licence is for seven residents — fewer than the category permits. That is deliberate: a smaller house is the entire proposition, and it is the number we can staff properly without anyone becoming a room on a list.

KDADS publishes inspection results for every licensed adult care home in Kansas. You can look us up, and every other home you are considering, through their public facility directory. If you would like to see our most recent survey results, ask on your visit and we will show you.
